• Storage Type: Selective and Push Back Racking and Structural Mezzanine
Selective and push-back racking systems, combined with structural mezzanines, are versatile solutions designed to maximize storage efficiency in facilities with limited space. Selective racking is one of the most common types, allowing easy access to each pallet, making it ideal for environments that require quick retrieval. Push-back racking, on the other hand, is a high-density solution that enables multiple pallets to be stored in the same lane, increasing storage capacity without compromising accessibility. The addition of a structural mezzanine provides valuable vertical space, offering an extra level for storing materials or creating additional workspaces without expanding the building’s footprint. This combination of racking systems and mezzanine not only improves organization but also optimizes floor space, making it an ideal choice for businesses looking to improve operational efficiency and increase storage capacity in a limited area.
• Site Location: SE, Calgary
• Industry: Event and Exhibition Centre
• Main Challenges:
The project presented a number of logistical and design challenges, primarily due to the tight available space and the irregular shape of the building left for storage. The Event and Exhibition Centre needed to store a large quantity of products in a relatively small area, making it difficult to find an efficient solution. In addition, the team faced a tight deadline to complete the design and installation, which added an element of time pressure to the project. The combination of push back racking and mezzanine helped maximize the available storage area and incorporated all of the products into the system without overcrowding
• Trimet’s Solution:
Trimet’s design team developed customized storage solutions tailored to the unique needs of the facility. The selective and push back racking systems were chosen for their ability to store products efficiently while offering easy access. The use of a structural mezzanine added much-needed vertical space, allowing the center to store products at different levels without taking up more of the limited floor space. This combination of racking and mezzanine helped maximize the available storage area and incorporated all of the products into the system without overcrowding.
Given the tight timeline, Trimet coordinated the installation process with multiple teams working at various locations, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across the board. This efficient coordination was key in meeting the deadline while maintaining high-quality standards for both the design and installation phases.
Ultimately, Trimet’s solution provided a well-organized, scalable storage system that met both the functional needs and time constraints of the Event and Exhibition Centre.
